Patrick Monahan就是這樣的一個主唱、四十一歲年紀、但表演時還能像二十初頭的年輕人樣、跳來蹦去的。每回看到他、總讓我不禁聯想到 Ian Inkster。

Ian Inkster 是系上的客座教授、頭上頂著英國皇家研究院院士的銜位、每天春夏之際都會自英國來系上授課、而與其說是授課、我倒覺得像是來度假打高薪水的工、總能見到他穿著短褲涼鞋走路。他談吐幽默、課堂風氣開放、但道地的英國腔也總留給同學數多不解的疑問。每次同他說話、我也覺得緊張、因為實在地、我有時也不知道他在碎碎念甚麼、因此每次當對話結束、我不懂他的時後、就會回他：hehehe! Yup!

那時我剛從國外回來、他的課程也進行有好一陣子了、因此我只能利用課餘時間去找他討論分組與報告的事。談到報告時、都還是無異的侃侃而談、但說到分組時、他笑笑的挑眉說：Maybe you can join up “Someone’s” group, she is pretty。

雖說他年紀應該有五十好幾、但內心還是個風流倜黨的少年兄阿！

Patrick Monahan 也是這樣吧、那種不肯向年紀投降的中年男子、帶著樂團 Train 打拼。 1994年正式在舊金山出道、到了1998年在Columbia 下發行首張同名專輯 Train 、隔年以 Meet Virgina 闖進 Billboard 、名氣開始響起。

2009年發行的專輯 Save Me, San Francisco、更像是他對歲月的一種宣誓。清新的明謠風、在樂團界裡自成一格。專輯裡的 Hey, Soul Sister 更顯得 Patrick Monahan 好不魅力、半長的頭髮、自信的手擺歌唱、上了年紀的男人也能如此迷人啊！
